Blur's Dave Rowntree has been defeated in his bid to become a London councillor, it has been confirmed. Standing as a Labour candidate, the drummer lost to Conservative nominee Mehfuz Ahmed in the Church Street seat. Ahmed claimed the Westminster City Council role by 303 votes, scoring 955 votes from a turnout of 24 per cent. Rowntree has been chosen to be the prospective parliamentary Labour candidate for the Cities of London & Westminster constituency at the next general election. Watch Blur's music videos here...
